Software / Firmware Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong, demonstrable experience with C# and .NET
• Confidence reading and working with SQL, including SQL Server or MySQL
• Exposure to C, particularly around embedded or microcontroller-level code
• Some Python experience
• Front-end exposure, ideally React
• An interest in industrial, hardware-adjacent software

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain C# / .NET software for Windows-embedded systems
• Work with data flowing from FPGA-based hardware sampling in the gigahertz range
• Read from and write to SQL Server / MySQL databases
• Interpret and occasionally work with lower-level C code from embedded microcontrollers
• Test and verify our own code end to end, from spec through to deployment on hardware
• Collaborate with the wider team on cloud and web-facing components where projects overlap

We design and manufacture condition monitoring equipment for power utilities and transmission companies, helping operators detect problems in high-voltage infrastructure before they cause failures. Our systems monitor partial discharge, circuit breaker condition and substation health, giving early warning of issues that would otherwise go undetected until its too late. We are looking for a mid-level Software/Firmware Engineer to join our development team in Glasgow, with a salary of £40,000 and a 5-days-per-week on-site arrangement, flexible.
